Who can believe that summer is taking its last few gasps for the year? One of the best things about summer (okay, and winter) is filling in the lazy hours relaxing with a great book or two. Or three.
Anyway, I recently re-read the book Julie & Julia, My Year of Cooking Dangerously. It’s totally entertaining, sometimes painful, and perfect for the Beige Reading List. Why? It starts with a young woman who’s feeling a bit unfulfilled but pursues that ‘stupid idea’. She creates a blog dedicated to cooking all the recipes in the classic cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, by Julia Child within a year. If you’ve ever seen the book, it’s roughly the size of a college textbook. Julie determinedly pursues her personal challenge and navigates the great highs and ugly lows that come along with it. Boeuf Bourguignon anyone?
Be sure to check out the Beige Watch List, if you’re really up for a movie instead.
